A PHOTO

This Saturday (June 30th) at Skylark Lounge in Rochester.  Flyer updated to reflect venue change.

Bands pay the merch girl, the sound guy, they pay for travel, accommodation, recording time, rehearsal studios, poster printing, tee shirts and other merch etc .. they want to use photos to promote themselves, the idea of promotion is to put money in their pockets. Why should they pay for every other good/service but just take a photograph to promote a show in order to put money in their pockets?

Thanks for stealing my photo without permission.

I can say it was an honest mistake. I’m a girlfriend of one of the band members, the one who designed this flyer, not the one who chose the photo. It was NOT OKAY for them to use this photograph without your permission, if I had knowledge that they were going to use a copyrighted photo by a local artist, I would have stepped in. My comment to them was “what if someone used one of your songs in a movie without asking?” I understand your reasoning and I think your photographs are great and you not only deserve to have recognition, but you deserve to be paid. I know their manager is working to satisfy you, so please stop blowing up twitter with bad messages about Joywave. However wrong they were, they want to make it right, but talking shit about them on twitter doesn’t get anyone, anywhere. In fact, you’re just giving them more publicity; no one is going to dislike a band because they used somoenes photograph without permission. Although I will scold them like an Italian Mother. :)
